Satan’s Same Confusion Subtle Strategy

Dear Friends and family,

In this posting I paste an article on Satan’s Ecumenical Strategy by Cecil Andrews of Take Heed Ministries. Cecil has kindly given permission for us to utilise any article that may help the cause of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Perhaps this may help to understand the importance of every stand made against ecumenical unity as we see one initiative after another being put into place as bricks that make up a wall too strong to push over.

SATAN’S SAME

Confusion

SUBTLE STRATEGY

by Cecil Andrews

In Genesis 3:1 we read “Now the serpent was more subtil than any

beast of the field”. The word “subtil” would be well understood

as meaning ‘crafty’ in today’s language.

Into a clearcut situation “And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die” [Genesis 2:16-17] the serpent [Satan] introduces confusion – “Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?… Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil” [Genesis 3:1,4&5]

The consequence of Satan’s Subtle Strategy was

‘the fall’ and its effects are everywhere still evident today.

God’s clear-cut remedy for the salvation of fallen man is

through the proclamation of His ‘gospel’ “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth” [Romans 1:16] and “it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe” [1 Corinthians 1:21].

To try and counteract the saving effectiveness of God’s ‘gospel’ Satan has remained faithful to his tried and trusted tactic of sowing confusion. We are now living in days of unprecedented uncertainty where the very essence of ‘the gospel’ is concerned and it is all due to Satan’s age-old ploy of questioning the truth and reliability of God’s word – still today Satan says “Yea, hath God said”?

Not only has Satan sought to pollute and pervert the core ingredients of God’s ‘gospel’ but he has also sought to confuse the identity and distinguishing marks of a true ‘Christian’. The success of this strategy is best seen in a number of developments in recent years. The most worrying aspect of all of this is that many who describe themselves as being ‘EVANGELICAL’ show the greatest evidence of being the victims of Satan’s Strategy of sowing confusion. Earlier I mentioned ‘developments in recent years’ so let me briefly mention a few of these by way of example

March 1994

Publication of

‘Evangelicals and Catholics Together – The Christian Mission For The Third Millennium’.

This was endorsed by leading so-called Evangelicals such as

J I Packer, Bill Bright and Charles Colson.

1995

Promotion of the

‘Alpha Course’

by Sandy Millar and Nicky Gumbel of Holy Trinity Brompton

church in the midst of they and their fellowship

experiencing the so-called ‘Toronto Blessing’.

July 1998

Publication of

‘Evangelicals and Catholics Together in Ireland’.

At a number of meetings in Belfast and Dublin J I Packer

in company with ‘Father’ Pat Collins sought to justify this concept.

1998

Publication of

‘Adventures in Reconciliation;

29 Catholic testimonies’.

The joint editors of this publication [funded by the European Programme

for Peace and Reconciliation] were Paddy Monaghan and Eugene Boyle

of the group known as ‘Evangelical Catholic Initiative’. Amongst

the ‘Protestant’ endorsers of this book were Bishop Harold Millar

(Church of Ireland), Rev Ken Wilson (Methodist) Pastor Paul Reid

(Christian Fellowship Church) and Rev Ken Newell and Rev

Trevor Morrow (both Presbyterian). On the Roman Catholic side

Cardinal Cahal Daly and Archbishop Sean Brady endorsed it.

These theological hybrid endeavours have produced a rich harvest of deadly poisonous fruit when they speak of how a person becomes a Christian and when they spread the ‘testimonies’ of those claiming to be Christian. Rather than bringing clarity into the realm of the matters addressed they have served only to introduce widespread confusion. Many of God’s people have been greatly troubled by these developments. They have to a degree lost peace of mind over matters that were formerly never in dispute. Why has this happened and who is at the back of it all? The scriptures assist us greatly with these words For God is not the author of confusion but of peace” [1 Corinthians 14:33].

Satan has without doubt been very busy.

Briefly I would like to detail some of the ‘genetically modified’

teachings and testimonies that genuine evangelical believers

are being asked to swallow and accept as being both faithful

sound doctrine and testimony of belonging to Christ’s sheep.

Please consider this section [with comments added] from the

March 1994

‘Evangelicals and Catholics Together – The

Christian Mission For The Third Millennium’

‘Those converted – whether [1] understood as having received the new birth for the first time [evangelical Holy Spirit regeneration] or [2] as having experienced the reawakening of the new birth originally bestowed in the sacrament of baptism [Roman Catholic sacramental baptismal regeneration] must be given full freedom as they decide the [church] community in which they will live their new life in Christ [Evangelical or Roman Catholic churches viewed as equally valid].

The so-called ‘Evangelicals’ who signed this document officially sanctioned baptismal regeneration as a valid way of becoming a Christian and formally acknowledged Roman Catholicism as a viable form of Christianity. They have ably promoted Satan’s Subtle Strategy of confusion.

‘Alpha News’ – March – July 2000

On the front page of this newspaper there is a photograph of TV presenter Diane Louise Jordan and underneath we read

‘A video explaining the vision for the Alpha supper initiative in September is being sent to all the 7000 churches in the UK running Alpha. The video is introduced by TV presenter Diane Louise Jordan’.

Half the text of page 3 is given over to supplying further information about this project and the remainder of pages 3 & 6 is entirely devoted to Diane Louise Jordan’s ‘testimony’.

In all the articles on these pages about the video and Diane Lousie Jordan herself there is not one mention of Jesus Christ. There is not one usage of the word sin. There is not one reference to either Calvary or The Cross. There is not one mention of conversion or having been born again.

There are in fact quite a number of disturbing and dare I say it ‘diabolical’ incidents referred to as the following extracts from the ‘testimony’ will show.

When somebody dies in your family you ask the questions, “What is it all about? Where do we go after this? But I remember feeling quite peaceful about my sister dying because I really believe she was going somewhere better…While I was at Blue Peter, there was a producer friend who I got on with famously. He was trendy…he loved partying…We were once stuck in a hotel near Auschwitz…so we sat at the bar all evening…and in the middle of this conversation he announced that he went to a church in the centre of London where they had discussions about faith. It wasn’t churchy and a lot of media people went there so I should feel at home…I told him I didn’t believe in Christianity and it wasn’t for me…

A couple of years later we found ourselves in Argentina…On my day off I was lying on my bed with my eyes wide open when I had this massive vision. I saw my sister…There was no stress on her face…She told me that she was in heaven with God. It was a beautiful experience but I was freaked out and cried uncontrollably…Later on my friend came to find out where I was and I told him what had happened. He said that it was probably God [Luke 16:27-31 would teach differently]

…when I was leaving Blue Peter six years later…they invited me to present one episode of ‘Songs of Praise’ from LOURDES which is an incredibly spiritual place

[The question is which ‘spirits’ are active at Lourdes]

…one evening we went to the Grotto…I just stood at the side…and I just could not stop crying…I came back from there feeling quite changed…From that moment on I actually started telling everybody I was a Christian…I remembered that my producer friend had mentioned this course…It was called an Alpha course…I spoke to him about my experience in Lourdes and he just said “Yeah, I think you ought to go and do this course”…Then in 1998 I was invited to present ‘Songs of Praise’ about Alpha from Holy Trinity Brompton…It felt fantastic…and I thought “I’ve really got to go back and do this Alpha course”. So I went back and completed the course and during that time GOD SORT OF CREPT UP ON ME REALLY GENTLY AND HE HAS KEPT CREEPING EVER SINCE

[I read in my bible of ‘conviction’ and ‘conversion’

but I’m struggling to find God ‘CREEPING’].

God has been clearing away all the clutter… Even my friends are saying “You are much

As I read this ‘testimony’ I thought of the words of 1 John 4:1 “Beloved believe not every spirit but try [test] the spirits whether they are of God”.

I must confess that this ‘fruit’ of ALPHA left a bitter taste as I digested it.

Finally I want to consider the confusion sown in recent years by

‘EVANGELICAL CATHOLICS’

1998 saw the publication of a booklet and book, both of which were heavily influenced by the Irish ‘Evangelical Catholic Initiative’, based just south of Dublin. On the ‘Group Participants’ committee that helped draw up the booklet

‘Evangelicals and Catholics Together in Ireland’

were Eugene Boyle and Paddy Monaghan who on the front cover of the book

‘Adventures in Reconciliation – 29 Catholic Testimonies’

were listed as ‘Editors’. These 2 men act as spokespersons in Northern and Southern Ireland for this ‘Evangelical Catholic Initiative’ grouping. Another who was a member of the ‘Group Participants’ committee and endorsed the ‘ECT in Ireland’ booklet and also wrote a commendation at the start of the book ‘Adventures in Reconciliation’ was Presbyterian minister Trevor Morrow. Let me quote part of what he wrote

‘The Jewish Christians from Jerusalem had come down to Galatia and were fearful that Paul’s message of justification apart from the work of the law would undermine the traditions and identity of their Jewish inheritance. They were insisting that it was not enough for a Gentile to believe in Jesus Christ. They also had to follow the laws of Judaism; to be circumcised, sabbaths and festivals, in order for them to be accepted as Christians. It became for them a criteria for FELLOWSHIP [emphasis mine]. Paul rails against this. If someone insists that something else is required, apart from faith, in order to accept a person as a fellow Christian, or as a basis of fellowship, then they, says Paul, are preaching a false gospel.

If you refer back to the article in my last newsletter entitled

‘Ecumenical “stones for bread” (Luke 11:11) in Ballymena’

you will discover an uncanny similarity between what Russell Birney preached and what Trevor Morrow has here written. They are obviously ‘singing from the same perverted ecumenical hymn-sheet’ to persuade people that the term ‘Evangelical Catholic’ is not what it truly is – a contradiction in terms.

Finally I want to consider the confusion sown in recent years by

‘EVANGELICAL CATHOLICS’

Paul rails against this. If someone insists that something else is required, apart from faith, in order to accept a person as a fellow Christian, or as a basis of fellowship, then they, says Paul, are preaching a false gospel.’

Going back to what Mr Morrow wrote, the Judaisers were not insisting on all those things listed as a basis for FELLOWSHIP – THEY WERE INSISTING UPON THEM AS THE GROUNDS FOR SALVATION and that was what Paul condemned as ‘preaching a false gosepl’ and as I explained in my previous article he publicly challenged those like Peter who fellowshipped with these ‘false gospel’ peddlars and Mr Morrow and Mr Birney are today both guilty of the same error as Peter. Sadly in June Trevor Morrow will be installed as Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. The Presbyterian Church and Christ’s gospel have been well served by the outgoing Moderator, my brother in Christ, John Lockington, but true evangelicals in the Presbyterian Church will have to brace themselves for seeing their new Moderator happily engaging in false ecumenism. Following his selection in February the Belfast Telegraph reported [2/2/00] that ‘Dr Morrow will be willing to take part in joint acts of worship with Roman

Catholics’ even though the same article later quotes Mr Morrow as describing his own ministry as ‘evangelical, reformed and orthodox’. His willingness to engage in false ecumenism should come as no surprise following his comments back in 1989. That year the Presbyterian Church voted against joining the ecumenical

Council of Churches for Britain and Ireland.

The Belfast Telegraph [28/6/89] reported ‘The assembly voted overwhelmingly against the new inter-church body which includes the Roman Catholic Church of England and Wales’. The same article also reported ‘The leader of the Presbyterian Church in the Republic, Dr Trevor Morrow has strongly attacked decisions taken at the General Assembly to oppose membership of the Council of Churches for Britain and Ireland…Dr Morrow told a meeting of the Dublin and Munster Presbytery yesterday that the decisions highlighted the need for “deep and radical repentance” within the Church’.

Finally, many on my ‘local’ mailing list will know of the concerns we raised about plans for Eugene Boyle to speak at the womens FOCUSFEST meetings to be held in Coleraine in early June. Apart from our own protests, many people including a large number of genuinely converted former Roman Catholics also wrote expressing their concerns. I am pleased to report that equal time will be allocated to Baptist Pastor, Clive Johnston, to question Mr Boyle [in depth] during these seminars. I am not claiming any victory here but simply rejoicing that an opportunity will be given [by way of questions] to express the view that Mr Boyle’s claimed position is in reality scripturally untenable.

Can you see the importance of sounding the alarm against ecumenical compromise? More and more people are following suit and silently joining hands with the Roman Catholic Church. The Lausanne Consultation for Jewish Evangelism seems to be yet another brick in the wall of ecumenical compromise. May people take note and take action.

Up to now we have had 76 signatures on our petition concerning the promotion and involvment of ecumenism within the Lausanne Consultation for Jewish Evangelism. Some of the singatories are involved in several ministries:

Comments: In Amos 3:3; it states can two walk together except they be agreed? And in 1cor.6:14-18 and in Rev.18:4; all warned Christians not to fellowship with false Christianity, that worships the creatures rather than the creator who is blessed who is blessed for ever, amen, Roman 1:25; it also warned believers in Yeshua of a false Christianity not engaging with a religious system that forbade marriage to their ministers, the practice of celibacy is of the devil, no wonder that this religious prostitute has scandals of scandals,as their priest, have been found to abuse wives, daughters of their parishioners. Engaging in paedophilicity, and priests involved in homosexual activities with minors, and alter boys, 1 Timothy 4:1-3. Christians are forbidden by Christ the Lord, not to call anyone father, because you have one father in heaven, and not to call anyone master or Rabbi because you have one master and a Rabbi, Christ the Lord, but this false religious system calls their priest fathers, and the top guy the Holy father. In the High priestly prayer of Christ to His father before He was crucified, Christ called the father in heaven, Holy Father in John 17:1-26. But this false religious system usurped this protected title of our Father in heaven to a mortal man that has breath in his nostril and also claimed to be infallible. This religious system also violates God’s command not to worship idols, graven images, and icons of dead saints, as against the bible in exodus 20: 3-5. This religious institution also claimed that their top bishop is the vicar of Christ the Lord. This is far from truth, the Holy Spirit is Christ vicar on earth as in John 16:7-8; 9-11. It is the blessed Holy Spirit that Christ sent on the feast of shavua or Pentecost is Christ’s vicar and representative not this man that protects child monsters, paedophil and sexual perverts mascurading as godly men. In retrospect, the above are sufficient ground to avoid fellowship with a system that violates the holy bible, and our blessed redeemer words. There are other reasons, but time and space made this difficult. I want to thank the Lord Jesus Christ who rescued me from this false, pseudo Christianity, hence, I am sounding out alarm to avoid her if you do not want to end up in flames in hellfire. Sincerely, Reginald Uka.

ROMAN CATHOLICISM: A DIFFERENT GOSPEL THAT CONDONES IDOLATRY

ROMAN CATHOLICISM: A DIFFERENT GOSPEL THAT CONDONES IDOLATRY

If there are Roman Catholics who take part in the Mass, who is to say that they are not Christians? What is so bad about taking the Catholic Mass? It surely does not mean these people follow another Gospel does it?

The Gospel saves us from idolatry and tells us to repent. Anybody in scripture that got saved turned from idolatry and in the case of the Corinthians seriously admonished if they continued to eat meat sacrificed to idols. The Roman Catholic Church teaches a doctrine called ‘transubstantiation’. This means that when the priest prays over the bread and wine in the Roman Catholic Mass the bread and wine, though still looking accidentally like bread and wine, actually change substance and become the very body and blood of Jesus. This is called the ‘real presence’. When Roman Catholics take communion, they believe that they are actually eating Jesus. The bread and wine are called the Eucharistic. Eucharist comes from the Greek word ‘Eucharisto’ which means ‘thanksgiving’ but the Roman Catholic is doing more that thanking God. They think they are worshipping Jesus whom they are eating. If the bread and wine turn into the literal body and blood of Jesus then there is no problem with the mass. But if the bread and wine do not change, then in treating the bread and wine as if those emblems are Jesus are they not guilty of idolatry? If the bread and wine do literally become the body and blood of the Lord then I am in serious peril for I have blasphemed the Lord. Idolatry is something we must all guard against but the difference with the mass is that it is institutionalized idolatry and the official dogma of the Catholic Church. Thus to embrace the Mass as part of ones salvation – it is also taught as a means of acquiring grace to lessen ones time in purgatory – would deny the Gospel of its call to repent from all idolatry. In some cases I believe there would be innocence in ignorance but not in the case of the top brass. Not in the case of Roman Catholic Archbishop, Monsignor Luis Alberto Rivas of Saint Joseph Basilica.  I would be much softer in my tone concerning the average Roman Catholic but I do not lessen my view of the Vatican.

Of course it must be admitted that Catholics do not believe that they are worshipping a piece of bread for they do not believe the bread is bread. It is the very body of Christ. So from their perspective it is a sin not to worship the Eucharistic host because the bread is Jesus. The following Catholic forum and attached article by the catholic news agency spells this out. http://forums.catholic.com/showthread.php?t=438849  . Thus, if the Eucharist is not Jesus in a literal sense then Roman Catholics are guilty of idolatry. But if the bread is the very body of Christ then I am sinning for calling the Mass an act of idolatry and not believing in Jesus as He has manifested Himself. The people on the aforementioned website even claim themselves that The Mass is not idolatry simply because of the fact that the Eucharist is Christ.

In John 6:47 it says that unless we eat Jesus’ body and drink Jesus’ blood we have no life in ourselves. Jesus clearly says that the way to receive that life, which we receive by eating His body and drinking His blood in John 6:47 is by believing. It is not by eating communion or else how would the thief on the cross have been saved. It is true that we commune with Christ when we take communion, but not by the actual emblems. It is simply by belief and obedience in His commandment as happens when we believe and obey him in other matters. There is a greater significance however in that the bread and the cup are symbols. The cup itself symbolizes the New Covenant but I do not hear anyone saying that the cup has transformed into a covenant! In communion we relive the cross theatrically not actually, just as the Jews relived the exodus theatrically in the Passover. When Jews say that the matza is the bread of affliction, it did not turn into the actual bread they had in Egypt. Thus the Mass is idolatry in that the emblems do not turn into the very body and blood of Christ and thus they are worshipping bread and wine. If the Catholics are right then my soul is in eternal peril unless I recant and change my position.

Pope John Paul II spoke clearly of Eucharistic worship of Christ in the mass. Where do they meet Him? According to Catholic dogma the emblems are Christ. This is not far out heretical teachings from the lunatic fringe of Roman Catholicism but representative of the Catholic Church’s stance itself. There may be individuals in the Roman Catholic Church who do it in ignorance, but this is Roman Catholic dogma itself and not the lunatic fringe of the pre Vatican II crowd.

Some may say that Catholics merely worship Christ to whom the emblems of the bread and wine point. If only Catholics worshipped that to which the emblems pointed to! But this is not the doctrine of transubstantiation. The emblems do not merely point to the body and blood of Christ but they change substance to become the actual body and blood of Jesus. Even, if some do not hold to the traditional Catholic view, it is still the view of the church and the majority of the Catholic world holds to this. Again we reiterate that for the Catholic, they are not worshipping bread and wine, because for them it is not bread and wine. Those are just its accidents. Its essence or substance is Christ Himself. They meet Christ in the mass because they are literally eating Christ. Again if transubstantiation is true to regard them as merely symbolic would be to reject Christ as He has manifested Himself in our unbelief and thus we would be blaspheming against His very body and blood to speak against transubstantiation.

However it is argued that Catholics do not worship the Eucharist, which they also call the host. Dr Alan Schreck, associate professor of theology at the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio states that “Catholics speak of the “real presence” of Christ in the bread and wine. This presence of Jesus can only be accepted by faith…. (We) simply affirm that Jesus’ words are literally true.** This is why RCs have great reverence for the bread and wine, since they believe the Word of God to be present in them….. Catholics do not ‘worship the host’ but worship Jesus Christ whom they discern by faith to be present in the host.”

This may perhaps show some difference of understanding within the Catholic Church. I know that Dr Alan Schreck is engaged in apologetics for the Catholic Church in the hope of welcoming protestants and evangelicals back home to mother church. http://www.franciscan.edu/News/Cardinal_Rigali_Apologists_Equip_the_Faithful/ . Yet the late Pope John Paul II, the head spokesperson for the Catholic Church answered the false claim that Catholics do not worship the Eucharistic host from in excerpts from his three day address in Pheonix Park, Ireland 1979. ‘The Eucharist, in the Mass and outside of the Mass, is the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, and is therefore deserving of the worship that is given to the living God, and to him alone.’ www.therealpresence.org/eucharst/pea/pjpdevot.html

My friends, this is why I have put together the open letter and petition for David Sedaca and the Lausanne Consultation For Jewish Evangelism. More and more evangelicals are flirting with that false religion and it is time for God’s faithful to raise their voice in objection. “Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness? Or what harmony has Christ with Belial, or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever? Or what agreement has the temple of God with idols?” – 2 Cor 6:14-16 “But I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and she teaches and leads my bond-servants astray so that they commit acts of immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols.” – Rev 2:20.

I am not alone in my belief. The following people from the following ministries also have this concern heavily on their hearts:

Update on the petition for LCJE, 23-Nov-2011

We are now up to 56 people on our petition to request the Lausanne Consultation for Jewish Evangelism to denounce and repudiate ecumenism. As I wrote on the last update,

“I would like to start by way of illustration:

A Christian radio host promotes a worship meeting of Evangelical Christians with a known Paedophile and leader of a pro-homosexual ‘Christian’ group. This man claims how this meeting is important this meeting is in breaking down walls in the Christian church and such a meeting celebrates the unity that Christ brings. When asked why such a man promotes a meeting with a known Paedophile and representative of the homosexual lobby the radio presenter denies ever having promoted anything of the kind. When presented with evidence that the  radio presenter did actually promote such a meeting he responds by saying that he was only reporting on the meeting, and he neither condones or condemns such a meeting. Can I ask you how you would respond? Would you say that such a radio presenter does not need to be called to account? What about all the children who have been abused? What about the liberalisation of scripture’s teaching on sexual matters? Would you not make a voice? I know that members of the Roman Catholic Church would!

However, the Roman Catholic Church is a false religion. It is a pseudo form of Christianity which believes that Mary is co-mediator with Christ when 1 Tim 2:5 states that there is only one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus. There is no mediator between man and Jesus. The Roman Catholic Church (RCC) teach their members to pray to the dead saints which is necromancy, something that Deut 18:11 God denounces as an abomination or to put it in laymans terms, a disgusting thing. The RCC teach that the bread and wine of communion actually turn into the actually body and blood of Jesus and they worship it. Jesus is clear that we do this in rememberance of Him and we share in His sacrifice by believing in His word and obeying it. (cf John 6:55-58 with John 6:47). To worship a piece of bread as if it is Jesus is idolatry which is a sin God strongly hates. These are just a couple of examples. Mike Gendron makes the following comparison between Jesus and the bible and the RCC:

Jesus and His Word teach…

  • You are saved by faith and not by works (Ephesians 2:8-9).
  • All who rely on observing the law (commandments) are under a curse (Galations 3:10).
  • Salvation occurs at the moment you believe the Gospel (Ephesians 1:13).
  • Jesus purifies sin (Hebrews 1:3).
  • You can know for sure you are saved (1 John 5:13).
  • The sacrifice of Jesus is finished (John 19:30).

The Pope and his church teach…

  • You are saved by faith plus works.
  • Obedience to the commandments is a condition for salvation.
  • Salvation is a process from baptism through purgatory.
  • Purgatory purifies sin.
  • You are condemned if you claim to be saved.
  • The sacrifice of Jesus continues in daily Mass.

As you can see these two teachings directly oppose one another. You must make the choice as to which is true and which is deception. Your choice will determine your eternal destiny.

http://www.pro-gospel.org/articles/102-are-catholics-deceived

Thus Roman Catholicism is just as serious an issue as Homosexuality and Paedophilia.

The above illustration mirrors my actual experience with David Sedaca, Latin American co-ordinator of Lausanne Consultation for Jewish Evangelism (LCJE) a prestigious organisation which promotes Jewish Evangelism which includes some wonderful partners and members such as Jews for Jesus, Arnold Fruchtenbaum and Ariel Ministries, Tuvya Zaretsky, and Mitch Glaser with Chosen People Ministries. All have done some notably work in the body of Christ. However in LCJE’s newsletter “LCJE Bulletin 95″ David Sedaca praises an ecumenical gathering with a Roman Catholic Archbishop Monsignor Rivas of Saint Joseph Basilica as an important meeting which demonstrated the unity that Christ brings. David Sedaca claimed this explicitly. When I wrote to him privately to question him he did not respond. When I questioned again with witnesses he flatly denied having ever promoted any ecumenism. When I contacted him again stating the evidence, he claimed he was only reporting on the meeting and did not condone or condemn it. Surely brothers and sisters this is not good enough for a serious question directed at a serious issue? Do we let this go by in resignation or do we demand a better answer. By praising such an ecumenical meeting, promoting it and using it to speak of Christian unity and then failing to condemn it, does that not seem to you that he is in fact not condoning it but actively promoting it? (For details of our private correspondance please see the open letter which contains such private correspondance at: https://lausannecje.wordpress.com/about/ )

It is for this reason that I have put a petition together. I am hoping that with enough signatures LCJE will see that this is not a handful of trouble makers simply trying to stir up a nest but a genuine concern from a large section of the Evangelical Church. A genuine question needs a genuine answer. It is not good enough to ignore such a call to account. My name is Salvador Ung Hayworth. I am not in any discernment ministry. Please pray for some of the hearts to be softened within LCJE. We probably won’t change the organisation itself but at least we can try to reach the ones and twos. If anyone has any questions or would like to make recommendations please contact me at msindisi@gmail.com . Please also consider posting on your social networking walls and on your websites.
Thank you so much for all your help.

Urgent Request and update on the Petition to the LCJE

I would like to start by way of illustration:

However in LCJE’s newsletter “LCJE Bulletin 95” David Sedaca praises an ecumenical gathering with a Roman Catholic Archbishop Monsignor Rivas of Saint Joseph Basilica as an important meeting which demonstrated the unity that Christ brings.

I am a missionary who shares the gospel with Zulu folk in South Africa and teach the Bible to Zulu, Afrikaans, Indian and English South Africans. (Our ministry website is www.kwazulumission.com ) I am not searching for every ministries piece of dirt. I believe in the purity of the gospel and the need to withstand compromise on the gospel which is the call of every Christian in Christ’s body.

The reason why my petition is important is because other people have contacted representatives of LCJE with similar questions and had their emails ignored. I have recieved correspondance of someone who explicitly promoted an ecumenical meeting as important and then refuses to condemn ecumenism. This is not simply a member of the LCJE network, this is a co-ordinator writing in an official LCJE publication. It is clear that LCJE are ecumenical in principle.

In my petition I have up to now had 39 signatures including Jacob Prasch of Moriel Ministries, Geoff Toole of Moriel Japan, Chris De Wet of Moriel in Bloemfontein, South Africa, Mark Van Niekerk of Hazorim, Roger Winter-Smith of Christian Witness Ministries, UK, Keith Parker of Prayer for Israel in the UK, representatives of First-Plumbline ministries and other individuals. We are all from different ministries and churches but we have seen the importance to sign a petition like this so that even if we cannot change LCJE we can save some of its members from ecumenical compromise. It is my hope that through this petition and other peoples efforts we will make the danger of ecumenical compromise an unavoidable issue to our evangelical people.

I have put together an online petition. Over the next several months I am seeking to get enough signatures to have copies of this petition presented to some of the coordinators of LCJE to plead with them to renounce and denounce any promotion of ecumenism, and to guarantee their abstinence from any participation in ecumenical meetings, networks or partnerships with any Roman Catholic Congregations and/or officials and clergy man. The Petition reads as follows:

“Dear LCJE, in regards to the open letter written to David Sedaca and to your organisation which can be read at the following public website http://www.lausannecje.wordpress.com we as Christians from various evangelical churches and ministries, as believers who hold that the purity of the gospel should be held without any compromise with those groups and ministers who hold to a different gospel, call on the LCJE to publically correct its promotion of ecumenism in its bulletin (as promoted by David Sedaca in bulletin number 95 – as addressed in the open letter). We also request the public denunciation of ecumenicism and request guarantees that LCJE will not engage in any ecumenical partnership or unity or meetings with Roman Catholic congregations or with Roman Catholic Officials or clergymen. For the love of the Truth of the Gospel we appeal to you to make a stand for the Lord requires it of you. Shalom in Yeshua. ”

If you would like to sign the petition please click on the following link and please forward this to as many people and churches as possible. Every signature is important. If you would like to contact me my email address is msindisi@gmail.com

Open Letter To David Sedaca And The Leaders of LCJE

Open letter to David Sedaca and the leadership of LCJE,

Greetings in Yeshua, our only saviour, mediator, redeemer and Lord. Greetings in Him whose once for all sacrifice can never be presented again and whose finished work on the cross was sufficient and complete. I am writing to you to express concern at what strongly and plainly appears to be the promotion and encouragement, the condoning of ecumenism which has been denied by David Sedaca but is clearly evident in the following correspondence.

I first wrote to David Sedaca on the 1st October, 2011 expressing concern at a couple of his reports that I had read on the LCJE bulletins. He was especially positive and recommendatory of an ecumenical meeting that he attended in Buenos Aires. My original email to him is as follows…

Subject: A question concerning your articles in LCJE magazines
To: “David Sedaca>

Dear David Sedaca,

Greetings in the wonderful name of Yeshua, our only Lord and Saviour.

I am writing after reading a couple of your reports on the LCJE newsletter feb editions for this year and I believe two years ago, 2009 where you spoke of a couple of ecumenical meetings, one more ecumenical than the other. You praised the “importance” of such an event and seemed in the last February article to be promoting such unions between evangelical Christian groups and with the Roman Catholic clergy if not roman Catholicism. As you can see by my first name, I have Portuguese background, that is on my mothers side, and I can strongly and securely assert that the Roman Catholic gospel is another gospel. The dogmas of the mass, which is tantamount to idolatry as the mass is to be worshipped according to the teachings of the church, the prayers to dead saints, the rosary with it’s prayers to Mary, the pope’s present familial relationships with other religious groups plus the last pope’s acknowledgement of the legitimacy of other faiths, both the last popes and the present popes veneration of Mary and assertions of her active role as co redeemer and co mediator with Christ, their stance of antagonism against the assurance of salvation which they regard as the sin of presumption,  their view that a single man can assume the place of Jesus Christ of earth and many other things baffles me as to how you can so happily promote fellowship and participation with the clergy of the Roman Catholic Church who stand there representing their false religion without a distancing of those false doctrines. I believe that we should not split hairs over minor doctrines that do not affect ones salvation, such as when is ones view of the rapture, are tongues for today, etc but I am sure that you are aware that if one preaches a different gospel he is to be accursed and any believer who is an unrepentant idolator is to be excommunicated from the church. So why was a roman catholic clergy man who would be well versed in the doctrine of transubstantiation which is ‘idolatry in the name of Christ’ be celebrated in his participation of the ecumenical meeting? Did he distance himself from the Vatican stating that he is not in accord with the dogmas of Rome that I have highlighted? Is he fighting against his own church concerning those essential doctrines that Rome contradicts of our faith? Is this man denying the idea of the pope being the vicar of Christ and forbidding prayers to the dead in the catholic churches. I do not think so or the Catholic Church would have defrocked him. Even if he had publically rejected catholic heresy I find it strange that you did not try to distance yourself from the ecumenical movement and state that you do not accept roman Catholicism as a genuine and biblical form of Christianity. Such unity is not that which Jesus prayed for when He prayed for those who would believe through the apostles’ word. Thus true unity can only come when we hold to apostolic truth as contained in the new testament scriptures and not through compromise with proponents of a different gospel. I am much grieved by such ties. It is as if churches that were so pure have fallen down with the best. We need to have both love and truth and may our love abound between ourselves, but not at the expense of biblical truth. Please my brother make a stand against the ecumenical movement. Make a stand against unity with the church of Rome. Make a clear stand such as our brother Arnold Fruchtenbaum makes that the Roman Catholic Church is a false church and it’s doctrines are unbiblical.

I urge you in the name and love of Christ to publically refute ecumenicism with Roman Catholic clergy and churches and to promote biblical unity among evangelicals.

Y’varechechah Adonai baShem Yeshua

David Sedaca did not extend me the courtesy of a reply to questions that were asked in all sincerity. Therefore I emailed him again but this time with a small number of witnesses. That email was as follows…

Dear David Sedaca.

Greetings in the name of our Lord Yeshua,

I write concerning an email I sent you on Sat October the 1st of this year. I had concerns about your reports in the LCJE reports that I have been reading. I did not want to press you for a quick response as I am sure that you are busy. However, I would have thought that by now I would have had a response from yourself. I hope it was an error of your email provider which possibly placed my email to you in the spam box. However, I resend the email with other people as recipients to be witnesses that I have tried to contact you and ask you concerning this issue as I am eager to hear from you. I also included a few people in LCJE to be in on this correspondence too. I wish to know your view on ecumenical unity and whether you will relent and will state on the next issue of the LCJE newsletter that you are not into ecumenical unity with the Roman Catholic Church OR clergy and that you did not mean to portray this in your reports. Please read the email I have posted below for your fresh perusal.

I eagerly await your response.

In Yeshua,

This time David Sedaca did extend the courtesy of a response but denied that he had ever promoted ecumenism in any form. This led me to think that I had contacted the wrong David Sedaca for it was very clear from David Sedaca’s report in Bulletin 95 that we was promoting an ecumenical meeting. David Sedaca’s response is as follows…

Dear Salvador,
You are probably mistaken, as I do not recall ever having written any reports arguing or promoting ecumenism in any shape or form. Are you sure you are addressing your concerns to the right person?

Thinking that surely it was impossible to have two David Sedaca’s in the same ministry, ‘chosen people ministries’ but not wanting to call Mr David Sedaca a liar I took him at his word and responded with the following email:

Sorry David,

I presumed you were the David Sedeca of Chosen People Ministries who had the following email address , Latin American Coordinator of LCJE. I post the other email address above so that my questions may be answered.

I this time attach a copy of the main problematic report within the LCJE Bulletin Issue 95, Feb 2009. The pages that glorify an ecumenical meeting and in the context of ecumenical unity with Roman Catholic Clergy this indicating the “unity that comes through Jesus”? are Pages 13-14 and I quote:

“An ecumenical gathering

The first was an ecumenical gathering organized by the Messianic Jewish community of Buenos Aires on October 20, 2008.

The event took place at the “Beit Sar Shalom Center,” and the main speakers were the Roman Catholic Archbishop, Monsignor
Luis Alberto Rivas of Saint

Joseph Basilica…

Monsignor Rivas opened, speaking on the topic of “The Eternal Hope For All Believers.”…

In addition to the importance of having such a high ranking Archbishop of the Catholic Church…

The event was reported by the secular media and was attended by the major news agencies, who reported on the significance of having

Catholics, evangelicals, and Messianic Jews coming together celebrating with choirs and music the unity that comes through Jesus.”

As you can see this “Annual Report 2008 for LCJE Latin America” By David Sedaca, LCJE coordinator for Latin America, of Chosen People is promoting ecumenism with Roman Catholic Officials as important and speaking of our unity in Messiah. I hope that an LCJE conference in Latin America will not follow suite. Nothing was said that such ecumenism is a betrayal of our Lord Yeshua. I only ask if the other David Sedaca of chosen people ministries can answer my questions especially concerning for the fact that in LCJE Bulletin issue 103, Feb 2011(page 4) he is still calling for unity and building bridges and not walls, which when compared to the 2008 report would indicate an inclusion ecumenical unity with Roman Catholic clergy. Have I missed something? Have I missed a report where David Sedaca has highlighted the need to refrain from ecumenical unity with Roman Catholic churches and from Roman Catholic Clergy representing the Roman Catholic Church?

David Sedaca’s answers will be very much appreciated in this regard.

May Adonai richly bless you,

Salvador Ung Hayworth

Subject: Re: A question concerning your articles in LCJE magazines

Dear David Sedeca and Kai Kjaer-Hanson,

I greet you in the wonderful name of our Messiah and Saviour Yeshua.

I write again concerning all of the information written below in the various emails below. I praise the fact that more evangelical believers are seeing the need to have a more positive and proactive participation regarding the evangelisation of Jewish people. I strongly and wholeheartedly condemn replacement theology. It is a most wicked heresy. The subject of Israel’s election is one of my passions, though not displacing my passion for Yeshua Himself nor the great commission to all nations. I applaud the contribution LCJE and its affiliates have made towards this end, and yet I have been troubled concerning what I see as the recommendation of Ecumenism in the LCJE Bulletin. I saw no warning of the automatic danger of working alongside Roman Catholic Clergy or Roman Catholic Churches but rather the praising of such initiatives even going so far as to hoping that LCJE would have their own conference in this vein in Latin America in the near future. This report to all intents and purposes was condoning an ecumenical meeting.

David Sedeca, you wrote that you were merely reporting on an ecumenical meeting not condoning or condemning it. Yet to the contrary your report did not remain neutral for one cannot be neutral on such an issue. You either acknowledge the ligitmacy of such an ecumenical meeting with a Roman Catholic Official as key speaker or you reject such a meeting as not maintaining the unity that is to be found in the Biblical Jesus but maintaining instead a false unity that brings evangelicals together with those who represent a church of idolatry (in the mass and in the veneration of images), of necromancy (with prayers to the dead), of a false gospel (that believes in Mary as co-mediator and co-redemptress with Christ), and the list can go on. In Rev 2:20 Jesus has this against the Church of Thyatira, that she tolerated the woman Jezebel, who called herself a prophetess, and she taught and led Yeshua’s bondservants astray so that they committed immorality and ate things sacrificed to idols. You should not even tolerate such meetings but instead you spoke in glowing terms of such a meeting saying that it was important to have such a high ranking archbishop in the Roman Catholic Church participating and you said of such a meeting of “Catholics, evangelicals, and Messianic Jews coming together celebrating with choirs and music the unity that comes through Jesus.”

As you you know, the WCC, LCWE and the LCJE are intimately involved with each other. Two of the three groups are openly ecumenical with Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit, general secretary of the World Council of Churches, addressing the 3rd LCWE. He said to the 3rd LCWE in Cape Town 17 Oct 2010 that he was honoured to be there with a delegation from the World Council of Churches and to greet them on behalf of this global fellowship of Orthodox, Protestant, Old Catholic, Anglican and Pentecostal member churches. Mr Kjaer-Hanson, it is of the LCWE that LCJE grants it is highest recommendation and count themselves as part of the Lausanne family. My brothers, WCC and LCWE has started and rapidly continues into the depths of compromise with ecumenical unity which is not Christ’s unity but a unity that is demonically inspired.

Mr Sedaca and Mr Kjaer-Hanson, I beg you not to speak of such ecumenical meetings with such favour. Please answer me that LCJE will not get involved with any unity or partnership with Roman Catholic Churches or Officials representing that false religion. Please answer me that David Sedaca will put out a public statement of apology for giving the impression that he promotes ecumenical gatherings with Roman Catholic Officials and that LCJE promises it will never entertain, endorse or participate with Roman Catholic Officials or churches in such meetings or in evangelism. As I wrote in a previous email, see below, if it was a minor doctrinal difference such as the timing of the rapture or whether tongues are for today etc there would be no need for me to write. But Roman Catholic Officials represent a Church that preaches a false gospel and Paul writes in Galatians that all who preach a different gospel are to be accursed.

I have included some more people of trustworthy ministries that I respect to witness our correspondence to one another. You cannot see my heart through an email, God does. I send you this email with all sincerity of heart in the truth of the Gospel and of concern for people that would be lead into ecumenical compromise through reports or writings that promote such ecumenical gatherings.

Please,

I await your further response.

Shalom baShem Yeshua,

Salvador Ung Hayworth.

———————————————

In light of this email correspondence with Mr Sedaca, I appeal to the leaders of LCJE in the holy name of Jesus, our only saviour, our only redeemer, our only mediator, the only one whom we should pray through, if you fear the Lord and honour His word and the purity of His gospel, I appeal to you to turn from promoting such ecumenical meetings, to make a stand against it and to give your readers guarantees that LCJE will not participate in partnerships or meetings that bring evangelical churches together with catholic churches or the clergies that represent those churches. Yes, reach Catholics and turn them away from the veneration of Mary, from praying the rosary, from praying to dead saints, from the idolatry of the mass. But please do not tolerate the woman Jezebel as if this demonstrates the unity that Messiah brings! Should we take Christ’s members and join them with harlots?! Rather we should come of from them and be separate says Adonai. Then Adonai will receive us and we will be sons and daughters to Him and He will be a Father to us.

I look forward to your response. Although this is an open letter, and I will be publicly posting it on the Internet, I give you assurances that I will also circulate and publicly post your response to me.

May the Lord guide us into all the truth,

Shalom baShem Yeshua

Salvador Ung Hayworth
